REACTIVE MAINTENANCE
Often, the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) identifies Corrective tasks that are commendable, to prevent break downs. A good PPM and a reasonable approval of Corrective works, lead to less unwanted and unforeseen Remedial works. The later happen when either or both PPM and corrective works are insufficient, hence the risk of break down increases.

Reactive maintenance tends to grow like a snowball, and once it reaches certain level runs out of control, leading to a major disruption or an accident.

The costs of Reactive maintenance are always far higher than PPM and corrective, as they add consequential and reputational damages, as well as emergency costs.
